BIOGRAFIA
UFO es una banda británica de hard rock y heavy metal fundada en 1969 en la ciudad de Londres en el Reino Unido. Son considerados como pieza clave y una de las principales influencias del movimiento Nueva ola del heavy metal británico, nacido a fines de la década de los setenta.
Comenzaron su carrera a principios de los años 1970, con discos cargados al rock espacial y al rock psicodélico. Sin embargo y luego de la llegada del guitarrista alemán Michael Schenker, cambiaron su estilo hacia el hard rock y heavy metal, permitiéndoles alcanzar la fama principalmente en Europa gracias a los discos Phenomenon, Force It y Lights Out, entre otros.
Luego de la salida de Schenker, la banda pudo mantener su popularidad hasta los primeros años de los años 1980, pero el constante cambio en su alineación finalmente llevó a la primera separación en 1983. Al año siguiente, Phil Mogg y Paul Raymond reformaron la banda con nuevos integrantes, pero los malos resultados de sus producciones conllevó a que Mogg decidiera separar nuevamente la agrupación en 1989. En 1992, Mogg y Pete Way nuevamente reformaron la banda y publicaron en el mismo año High Stakes & Dangerous Men, que se consideró como el gran retorno a su clásico sonido. Desde entonces han publicado una serie de álbumes, que les ha permitido recobrar su popularidad principalmente en Europa y Japón.
Con una extensa carrera de más de cuarenta años y con más de veinte álbumes de estudio editados, se han convertido en una de las bandas más admiradas del mercado del rock europeo y han sido mencionados como principales influencias de otras agrupaciones como Iron Maiden, Saxon, Stryper y Megadeth, entre muchas otras.
